Michael Lynn Dotson, Sr.

Michael Lynn Dotson, Sr. was the third born child to the late Maurice Dotson, Sr. and Dorothy Dotson on November 4, 1957. He was born in Dallas, Texas.

Michael joined Good Street Baptist Church at an early age. He attended and graduated from Skyline High School in Dallas, Texas, while in high school he played football and earned a college scholarship to Howard Payne University. After completing high school, Michael went on to college.

In 1976 Michael was introduced to Sheila by their best friends Perry and Pamela Holmes. In 1981 he united in holy matrimony to Sheila Sorrells and to this union three children were born.

On August 11, 2025, God called his faithful servant home to eternal rest. Preceding him in death is his parents, Maurice Dotson Sr. and Dorothy Dotson; brother, Maurice Dotson Jr.; sisters, Wanda N. Dotson, Janice Henderson, and Dorothy Youndblood; nephews, Mario  Lipscomb, Robert Henderson, and Rodney Henderson.

Michael’s life and legacy will always be remembered by his wife, Sheila Dotson; four children, Waylon McCoy, Ebony Sorrells (Emanuel), Michael Dotson Jr. (Quiona), and Marcus Dotson; five grandchildren, Emanuel Reese II, E’kanye Reese, Kayla McCoy, Key’on Dotson, and Milayah Dotson; his sisters and brother: Zenobia Lipscomb, Sandra Stinson, Rhonda Dotson, and Charles Dotson Sr. (Denise), along with a host of nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.
