Every once in a while you run into a traveler on the straight and narrow path that leads to abundant life here on earth, and eternal life in heaven. Deacon Michael Allen Lewis was such a traveler.
Beloved Deacon Michael Allen Lewis was born June 23, 1955, in Dallas Texas to the parentage of the late Jeston Lewis Sr. and Jannie Mae Randle-Lewis. Known loving as “Mike” to his family, friends and church family, gracefully departed from earth to glory August 18, 2025.
He professed a hope in Christ at the age of 7 and became a member of the Lone Star Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Charles Reed. In March of 1967 he along with 37 adults and children was a charter member of the Community First Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor C. H. Gerald. On September 26, 2004 Mike united with The Called Fellowship Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Kevin Powell.
Deacon Lewis was a cornerstone of The Called Fellowship Baptist Church where he was ordained as a deacon on September 16, 2007. For over 17 years, he served the congregation with unwavering commitment and a generous spirit. He was known for his compassionate heart, his wise counsel, and his gentle, steady presence. He faithfully assisted in many church ministries, including Sunday School teacher, Senior Adult Minister, and Male Chorus. He also served as the Church Janitor and Worship Litany Leader, both of which he did with love, passion and integrity. Michael greatest passion was serving the membership of The Called Fellowship Baptist Church.
He attended school in the Dallas Independent School District and was a graduate of the L. G. Pinkston High School Class of 1973. He received further education at Navarro Junior College in Corsicana, Texas. He was employed with Mistletoe Trucking Company, D and H Distributing and Ashland Chemical.
As a youth, Michael developed a passion for the game of basketball. He, alone with other youths from the neighborhood would spend hours playing basketball Tipton Park. As Michael transitioned into adulthood, he enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially the Dallas Marwick’s and Dallas Cowboys. He was one of the original Dallas Cowboys fan.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Jeston Lewis Sr. and Jannie Mae Randle Lewis and brother Johnny Lewis.
He leaves to cherish his memories, brothers Jeston Lewis Jr. and (Dorothy), Reginald E. Lewis (Linda), Bruce E. Lewis Sr. (Linda) one Sister Angela A Lewis Mims (Nita). nieces, Jocelyn Lewis Starling, Constance Mims, Kawanise Mims Jordan and (Brandon), Adriana Lewis Leonard (Josh), Brittany Lewis, Brandy Lewis, One Nephew Bruce Lewis Jr.
He also leaves three great nieces, Jada Starling, Jamya Leonard and Bailee Leonard. Two great nephews Kederian Brooks and Joshua Leonard II. One Uncle L. C. Randle and host of other relatives and friends.
