Michelle White-Dunn Obituary

Michelle Delores (Hicks) White-Dunn was born August 11, 1960, in Dallas, TX to the parentage of Charlie and Gwendolyn (Ridge) Hicks. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of the Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church under the late Pastor Alvin White.

Michelle was born to sing. As a small child, she would often be asked to sing solos at her home church and around the city of Dallas. Even as a child, her spirit-filled, melodious singing voice would fill the room and bring the congregation to tears. She also had a musical ear and for several years, served as a pianist for her great-uncle's church, True Purpose MBC in Dallas, TX (late Pastor Alphonso Wilburn).

Michelle graduated from Dallas' South Oak Cliff High School (SOC) in 1977. She excelled in ROTC and served as Commander of SOC's award winning Girl's ROTC Drill Team for 2 consecutive years.

Most of all, Michelle loved beauty and fashion and began doing hair as a young girl. She graduated from Roffler’s School of Hair Design in Dallas and became a licensed Cosmetologist. She worked as a hairstylist and make-up artist for most of her life. Long after her retirement due to illness, she would often accept special requests from clients. For her, it was ministry.

Michelle was a devoted and beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was a force to be reckoned with. If you ever met Michelle, you did not forget the experience. She is already greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Gwendolyn (Ridge) Hicks, and her brother, Ronald Ridge.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her sons - Justin White and Barry Dunn III; Siblings - Charles Ridge (Betty) Jerri Lynn Western (Jerome), Valerie Hicks, and Anthony Hicks (Kisha); Nieces and Nephews - Brian, Christen, Joseph, Jermaine, Tiffany and Ashley; Special Friends/Sisters - S. Marzette Hammond and Yvonne Williams; and a host of family and friends.
