Odessa Ross Harper was born on May 9, 1925 in Coolidge, Texas to the parents of Bennie and Bernice Ross. She received her education in Mexia Public Schools. She united in holy matrimony to Willie F. Miller (who precedes her in death); and to that union 6 children were born. She later married Walter J. Harper who also precedes her in death. Odessa accepted Christ at an early age and later united with East Dallas Church of Christ under the leadership of Brother Thurman. She was an active Christian, serving with the Youth Department as a Sunday School Teacher until her health failed. She is a retired domestic worker.
“Momma” as she was affectionately called by her family was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, aunt and church member. Momma always found time and a way to help others doing whatever she could to help. She loved to travel and cherished her time with her family whether in a small or large gathering.
She is preceded in death by her mother, father, 1 sister, 3 brothers, 1 grandson and 1 beloved daughter, Doris Jean Miller.
She leaves to cherish her memories and love 5 children: Linda (Kevin), JoAnn, David Earl (Marylin), Joyce (Edward), and June; 11 grandchildren: Vicky King, Deaudwin Smith, Keidra Jones, Sharmain McCullough, Schawana Perkins, Derrick Mason, William Miller, Keith Miller, Kriston Jackson, DeShunda Perkins and Brandon Bradley, 31 great grandchildren, 24 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.
