Patricia Wright

Patricia Ruth Hilburn was born in Gilmer, Texas on May 31, 1952, to Jimmie and Arcy Hilburn. The Hilburn family later moved to Dallas, Texas from Gilmer, Texas while they were all still young. They quickly found a church home and Patricia accepted Christ at an early age and was very active in the church during her teens.

Patricia graduated from North Dallas High School in 1970 and began her collegiate studies at Texas Women’s University. During her matriculation through college, Patricia was a part of several organizations and became friends with many people. In 1972 she met her lifelong friend, Sharon. The two met at Rush and pledged Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated in 1973 which made their bond even stronger. The following year, Patricia would go on to walk across the stage at graduation.

With education always playing a vital role in Patricia’s life, it was no doubt that she would go on to begin her teaching career in Garland, Texas. Patricia also worked for Dallas ISD and later retiring from Lancaster ISD. Patricia had many gifts and talents, but she poured her heart and soul into her students that she taught. Pat worked as a Special Education teacher, Talented & Gifted teacher, Educational Diagnostician, Special Education Compliance Coordinator and retired as a Special Education Director. Patricia consulted with several agencies officially retired in 2017.

In 1984, Patricia Hilburn married Donell Wright and they had full life raising three beautiful children Dunyell, Damiyun and Desha. Donell and Patricia were happily married for 28 years and looking forward to retirement and sitting on the porch and watching and waving as the cars drove by.

Patricia was a quick witted, firecracker that would always great everyone with a loving smile. Patricia is preceded in death by her husband, Donell, her father Jimmie Hilburn, brother Glenn Hilburn Sr. and son Dunyell Wright.

Patricia leaves to mourn and carryout her legacy, mother Arcy Hilburn, children Damiyun Wright (Yolanda) and Desha Wright Slaughter (Cartney), grandchildren Aakiyah, Kaitlyn, Danyelle, Sydnei, Allysson, Courtney and Devyn and great granddaughter, Addison. Patricia also leaves to mourn her brother Jimmie E. Hilburn (Mable), sister Sylvia Lankford (Earnest), sister-in-law Andrea Hilburn. A host of nieces and nephews.

The family is forever thankful for her dearest friend Sharon Bradley for her invaluable support and love to Patricia always.
