Early Life. Pearlene Price Young, the 17th of 19 children, was born on June 9, 1931, to Dandy and Era Price in San Augustine, TX. She relocated to Nacogdoches, TX with her family, and ultimately settled in Dallas, TX.
Professional Life. She received a Certificate in Accounting from Mountain View College and worked in various career fields such as transportation, financial institutions, and was a co-owner of the Forest Haven Funeral Home.
Life In Christ. She began her Christian journey in 1957 at the Ninth Street CoC, now the Cedar Crest CoC, under the leadership of the late C.C. Locke. Throughout her life, she has taught Sunday school, chairperson for the Ladies Bible Class, revived the Ladies Day program in April 1990, organizing the support group in October 1992, and promoted yearly vacations for the ladies beginning in 1991. The ladies would travel to many states for 2 to 5 days and attend Ladies Day Programs in other cities and states. In 1999, she organized the United Christian Ladies.
Her beloved and only son David E. Price was her eldest child. From 1964 - 1986 she was married to Pastor E.L. Green and to this union two children were born, Georgia J. Roddy and Detra Green. \n 1987, she married Bro. Ruben Young, and they remained in blessed union until his passing in 2015. She is also proceeded in death by her daughter Georgia (Jackie) Roddy, blended-son, Michael Young, grandson Cornelius Roddy, great-grandson Neimon Dorrough, her parents and siblings.
Sis Young is survived by: Her Children, David Price (Wanda) and Detra Green. Blended Sons, Ronnie Young (Annie), Bernard Young (Mary), Maurice Young and Gwen Young. Grandchildren, Stacey Price (Thelma), Tracy Houston (Rodney), Lisa Price, Yolanda Roddy, Donnell Price, Toni Barefield, Gerand Love, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, her church family, Cedar Crest and a special friend, Mr. J.D. Davis.
