Prophetess Rochelle Burkhalter Obituary

Rochelle Ann Rucker Burkhalter was born on September 8, 1948, in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Walter and Mrs. Doris Rucker.  Rochelle was preceded in death by her father, Walter Rucker, brothers, Desi Rucker and Marssille Ridley, and sisters, Beverly Maxwell and Vivian Carpenter. Rochelle grew up in the Nashville area and was educated in the Metro Nashville Public School system.  She later moved to Wichita, Kansas after graduating from high school and there she met the love of her life, James Burkhalter, Jr.  They were married on May 10, 1968, and shared 53 years of marriage. From this union, Rochelle and James birthed James Burkhalter III, Markus Burkhalter and Monica Burkhalter. They would soon relocate to the Dallas, Texas area where they began their ministry and continued to enjoy life with their family.

Upon relocating to Dallas, Texas, Rochelle and James became very active spreading the gospel and serving in various roles in different ministries.  Rochelle was multi-gifted in ministry and had a special calling in intercessory prayer and the prophetic gifts. Her children witnessed her praying daily in her prayer closet and seeking God’s instruction for her life. Rochelle received her certificate of Ordination from the International Pentecostal Holiness Church in 2001. She continued to utilize these gifts and eventually started New Beginning Ministry with her husband and pastored for multiple years sharing the Good News of Christ and leading souls to our Savior. From this area of obedience, Prophetess and Apostle Burkhalter birthed many sons and daughters in the ministry. Their ministry focus was on deliverance and restoration and God used them to cause many miracles to take place with those they encountered. After the pastoral assignment came to a close, they continued to do God’s work in the workplace and abroad. Rochelle made very special relationships while working at Commercial Metals Company and was considered ‘Queen’ until her retirement after 15 years of service.

In her retirement years, Rochelle and James enjoyed travelling together and spending time with their family. She continued to love shopping, fine dining and telling as many people as she could about how good her Savior is.

Rochelle leaves her devoted and loving husband, James Burkhalter, Jr; two devoted son, James (Delonda) and Markus (Pam) Burkhalter of Houston and Lancaster, TX; one loving daughter, Monica Burkhalter of Grand Prairie, TX; nine grandchildren, Brent, Chante, Jasmine, Markus Jr., Ashley, Jaile, James IV, Kimora and Kylie; three great-grandchildren, Xavier, Markus III, and Michael; devoted mother, Doris Rucker; three devoted brothers, Walter (Diane), Darrell and Erick Rucker; two loving sisters, Sharon Rucker and Crystal (Edwin) Lee; one aunt, Avery Smith; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, spiritual sons and daughters and a host of friends.
