In Loving Memory of Richard Edward Joiner, who was such a vibrant presence in all our lives. Born on January 27, 1978, to Janice Leritha Clayton and Davey Edward Joiner, he was a cherished son, brother, father, uncle and friend. Richard heard the voice of and accepted the call from our Heavenly Father on August 9, 2025.
Richard received his formal education from the Dallas Independent School District, and was a member of Lawrence & Marder Church of Christ since he was born. Growing up in South Dallas on Jamaica Street, Richard, affectionately known as Richie Rich, was more than just fun and entertaining; he was the glue that brought us all together. From his childhood days surrounded by family and dancing with his sister LaTonya, to playing dominoes and spades, he made every gathering lively. Watching sports was another passion he shared, especially cheering for his favorite teams.
His love for his daughter, Ny’Tiara Joiner, his favorite girl, was boundless. He cherished his moments with her, and even as a quiet person, when it came to her dad, she spoke up. Kyrie, his beloved son, meant the world to him—Richard had a special way of connecting with him that showed how deep his love ran. He loved you dearly! To his nieces and nephews, whom he affectionately called his “Lucy’s”, the lessons and stories he shared will forever echo in your hearts.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Janice L. Clayton Joiner; father, Davey Joiner; grandmothers, Florence Hickman and Deloris Clayton Murphy, and great grandmother, Mattie Clayton.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his children, Ny’Tiara Joiner and Kyrie Hunter; sisters: Genice Hill Bouston (David), Deloris Hill-Peace (Darryle), and LaTonya Y. Medlock (Malcom); nephews (Richard lovingly called his Lucy’s): Diamonte Harris, Diavontain Hill, Dayton Searuggs, and Justin Sanders; nieces, Brandie Wilkerson (Samuel), Tracie Hill, Samantha Sanders, and Patricia Sanders; uncles, Nathaniel Murphy, Jr. and Mark Murphy (Marilyn); aunt, Zelma Robinson (Tony); grand nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
