Robert Lee Green, Sr. was born May 4, 1945 with his twin sister Dorothy Green to the late Luther D. and Jerry Lee Green in Linden, Texas. Robert departed this life on March 2, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Willie D. Green, Dorothy Brown, Arvella Turner, and his son, Robert Lee Green, Jr.
Robert married his beloved wife Vallie Raye Lewis and remained in this faithful union for 41 years. They shared many loving memories as husband and wife, best friends, and as members of the body of Christ. They were never apart for more than five days and their love endured to the very, very end.
Robert was the loving father of five children and a god daughter. Daughters, Yvette Morton (Keith), Tunya Green, and Sonya McDonald (Allen); sons, Tarus Green (Shae), Robert Lee Green, Jr. (deceased), and goddaughter, Michelle King; seven grandchildren, Robert D, Marilyn (Josilyn), Keith Jr., Leah, Jaiden, Rylee, and Wynter; two great grandchildren, Markell and Robert D, Jr. (Tad), a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Robert received his formal education in the Linden school district graduating with honors from Fairview High School in 1963. He excelled in sports which enabled him to enroll in Wiley College on a football scholarship.
After moving to Dallas, he started employment with Wyatt Industries where he was in management. He later started his own business, Green’s Landscaping, where he became a well known businessman and employed many over the years. Later he became a supervisor at Walmart Optical Labs where he was recognized on many occasions for his outstanding leadership. He retired in 2017.
Robert was a faithful member of Hawn Freeway Church of Christ where he was an elder and a leading brother of the church for over 40 years.
Robert was also a leader in the community for many years and was respected throughout Dallas. He was the President of the Fruitdale Community Improvement Organization for many years and was respected as a pillar of the community.
