Rosa Lee Wilson, lovingly known as "Mama" and "Sister," was born on November 28, 1926, in Kaufman, Texas, to Edward and Eula Hickman. She spent her entire life in the Dallas/DFW area.
Rosa was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost early in life. She remained steadfast in her faith, even during many years of immobility, never complaining or asking, "Why me?" Her kindness and infectious smile touched many lives, brightening our days and showing us all how to hold on to faith until the end. She was a beautiful mother who loved her family endlessly, and most of all, she loved God with all her heart, mind, and soul.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jimmie Charles Wilson; sister, Queen Avington; oldest son, Dale Stanley Wilson; and son-in-law, Jeri'L Robinson.
Rosa leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Puntus Wilson (Linda) and Barney Bernard Wilson; five daughters, Lynda Hood (Arthur), Phyllis Payne, Ramonia Robinson, Angelina Barksdale, and Deressa Hurndon (James). She also leaves behind one brother, Henry Hickman, affectionately called "Brother"; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Throughout her life, Rosa raised her family with patience, understanding, and love, even in times of anguish, pressure, sorrow, and calamity. She demonstrated how to care for others before herself in countless situations, continuing to give of herself unselfishly, even when overlooked or taken for granted. Rosa fought a good fight and finished her course, keeping her faith. Henceforth, there is laid up for her a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give her on this day.
