Ruby Faye Polk, age 88 passed after a brief illness on March 17, 2026, in Dallas, Texas. She was born on July 25, 1937, in the small town of Mart, Texas. Ruby was a beacon of love and faith, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She was the fourth daughter of George Edward and Eula Mae (Clark) Brown. Growing up in a bustling household, she was one of twelve siblings. Her parents and many of her siblings, including Pearl McDonald, Ola Mae Nolan, Jewel Jenkins, Cora Lee Brown, George Edward Brown, Jr., Jerry Brown, Willie Lee Brown, and Robert Lee Brown, Sr., preceded her in death, as did her beloved son, Robert Earl Freeman, grandson Wesley Williams, and her precious great-granddaughter, Lea Janae Freeman.
Ruby Faye’s life was a testament to resilience, devotion, and service. Educated in the Mart, Texas schools, she carried the values instilled in her by her parents throughout her life. She found her greatest satisfaction through work that allowed her to serve others, a calling she embraced wholeheartedly. Her career journey was varied, but it was always centered around helping those in need.
A devoted family woman, Ruby Faye was married to Charlie Freeman, Jr., and later to Theodore Polk, both of whom preceded her in death. Together with Charlie, she raised four wonderful children: Johnny Freeman (Arica) and Eloise Freeman Turner (John), both of Dallas, TX, Charlie Freeman, III (Valencia) of Atlanta, GA, and Robert Earl Freeman (deceased).
Her family extended to her grandchildren: Kolya Freeman (Tamera), Diante Freeman, Cassandra Freeman, Tiffany Freeman, and Kendra Freeman, along with her six great-grandchildren. Her siblings Dorothy Nell Smith, Doyle Brown (Hazel) of Dallas, TX, and James Earl Brown (Earlean) of Corsicana, TX, along with her Aunt Ocie Releford of Palm Springs, California, also survive her. Ruby Faye’s family, friends, and all who knew her will miss her dearly.
Ruby Faye accepted Christ as her personal savior at a young age and devoted her life to serving the Lord, a commitment that provided her great comfort and strength. Her unshakeable faith was evident in her daily life, as she delighted in studying and sharing God's Word with everyone she met. In her personal life, she found great joy in cooking, a skill she used to bring her family together. Her home was often filled with the aroma of delicious meals, the sound of laughter, and an overwhelming sense of love. Family gatherings were sacred, joyous occasions that she cherished deeply.
In her memory, the family invites you to share a kind word or a loving gesture with someone in need, emulating the kindness she so naturally extended throughout her lifetime. As her family reflects on her profound impact, they find comfort in knowing her legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to live in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
