Ruthie Louise Freeny-Jones, a loving spirit whose laughter resonated through the hearts of many, gently departed this world on January 30, 2025. She was born on July 27, 1935, in Henderson, Texas and later resided in the bustling heart of Dallas, Texas, where she would create a lifetime of rich memories and enduring connections. She leaves behind a legacy rich with love, service, and unwavering faith.
Ruthie was a woman of many passions. Her home was a sanctuary of affection, where family gathered for holidays filling her space with laughter and joyful memories that will linger in the hearts of all who knew her. Her loving, yet firm presence shaped the lives of those around her, teaching wisdom through the grace of her outspoken nature.
With a soul deeply rooted in faith, Ruthie loved the Lord wholeheartedly. She demonstrated her deep commitment to her faith through her church community- St Luke Christian Center and Changing Directions Christian Church. Ruthie found joy in various activities including gardening and fishing. Her culinary skills were exemplified through her love of cooking and baking. Her greatest passion was the warmth brought to the families of each child under her care throughout the years. She became a second mother to those fortunate enough to know her. Ruthie was also an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Elizabeth Freeny, and sister Mozettie Walker.
Her legacy is illuminated through her family, a proud aunt of Tracy Blake (Derek, Danielle and Donovan ), Samuel Dunbar (Cheryl), Twonika King “Peaches”, Shaquille, Gregory, Diamond, Paris, Samuel Dunbar (Keke), and Damon Dunbar. James and Andres Shaw (Leah); Lonnie and Carolyn Jackson; Lawrence, Jr., Lisa and Linda Harris; Gia, Colby, and Clayton Hollingsworth; Delpha Hunt; and a multitude of godchildren, relatives, and friends who loved her dearly.
