Sedrick DeWayne Houston was born on January 4, 1963, in Dallas, Texas to the parentage of Luther Houston and Velma Slaughter.
Sedrick attended W.H. Adamson High School for 3 years, before transferring to David W. Carter where he was a proud 1981 Class graduate. He was affectionately known as “Big Hou”. He had a heart of gold and was loved by many.
Sedrick united with Community First Baptist Church at an early age under the Pastorage of C.H. Gerald. He was active in the youth department, BTU, and youth basketball team. Sedrick later joined the Greater Community First Baptist Church, under the leadership of Dr. LaCedric Williams, Senior Pastor.
Sedrick worked for many years at Wonder Bread until he went out on medical leave.
Sedrick departed this earthly life on January 18, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther & Velma Houston.
He leaves to cherish his memories: son, Dedrick (Jessica); two daughters, Akyra and Meghan; 9 grandchildren, Jalea, Braelyn, Jada, Paityn, Jeremiah, DaMontre, Queen, Jace, and Kayden; 5 sisters, Norma, Phyllis, Andrea, Leslie, and Crystal; brother, Luther; uncle, Charles Slaughter; aunt, Linda Slaughter-Williams; nephew, Jaylon; nieces, Destiny (Cedric) and Kyla; great nieces, Cali and Khloe; special friends, Antoine “Joe Bear” and Karen Smith; along with a host of other relatives and friends that loved him dearly.
