Serena Yolanda Hill-Rhodes was born to the parentage of the late Debra Ann Gibson and Dwight Cecil Hill on February 15, 1969. On June 5, 2025, Mrs. Rhodes heard the voice of the Heavenly Father and accepted the call.
She attended Wilmer-Hutchins High School where she was a majorette dancer for the Eagle Band. She later graduated from high school in 1987.
Serena Hill met Derrick Rhodes in 1985 and the two married on May 20, 1989. To this union, three children were born. Their vows were renewed on May 20, 1998.
She started her career as a cafeteria worker in Dallas ISD, Desoto ISD and Lancaster ISD. Then she became an assistant teacher for DISD until her untimely passing. She also received her CNA where she was a caretaker part-time. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Pandra Hill-Thomas; brother, Korish Hill; and grandson, Seven Majesty Rhodes.
Left to cherish her memories: sons; Derrick Rhodes II (Angelica), Thedford Rhodes (Lakeria); daughter, Deliasha Rhodes; grandson Hendrix Rhodes; brother, Theron Hill; sister, Shaundra Hill; godchildren, Alaia and Jahmi Edwards; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
