Snerester Mark Burnett, affectionately known as ‘Mark,’ was born to the parentage of Bryson and Roberta Burnett on October 31, 1957. At an early age, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior.
Mark’s formative education included attending DISD schools and both James Madison and Lincoln High Schools in sunny South Dallas where he was a member of the class of 1976.
Snerester Mark Burnett was a soldier in the United States Army where he received an honorably discharge, a testament to his service.
Later in life he worked at A Box Connections until his retirement, after which, he dedicated his time to advocacy work, resettling refugees, community outreach and barbecuing for family and friends.
In 1997 Mark reconnected with his childhood crush and married on June 17, 2000. Almost thirty years together, the highlight of his life has been serving in ministry, enjoying family and friends, social gatherings, beautiful music, good food, watching various sport events, westerns and spending quality time with his forever girl, Lisa.
Mark enjoyed serving in the facilities and parking lot ministries at New Mount Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of their former pastor Rev. Kedric L. McKnight whom he formed a special bond with and remained closely connected to throughout the years.
To know Snerester Mark Burnett was to love him. He met no strangers, and he genuinely loved people especially the underdogs of the world. If he could do anything to make your life easier, lighten your load, Mark did it and if you were ever hungry, Mark was going to feed you. He cherished the relationships he formed with others. He was a friend indeed.
Mark fought a gallant battle against sickness for six years and on May 28, 2025 @ 4:09 pm he won the war. He answered God’s call and was met in paradise by his fathers, Bryson Burnett, Theotis Luckey, brothers, Bruce Burnett, Robert Burnett and sister, Celestine Luckey.
He leaves to cherish his memories: beloved wife of 27 years Felecia Hunter-Burnett, sweet mother, Roberta Burnett, children, Shanika Smith (Mandre), Quincey Hunter, Jamyyah Johnson (Kalan), Jamian Parker, ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, brothers, Bobby Burnett, William Burnett, sisters, Joyce Haskins (Abance), Donna Burnett, Earnestine Luckey, Beverly Burnett, uncle, Claude Kelley, nieces, nephews, cousins, childhood best friend for over sixty years, Vernon Humphrie, a host of other relatives, friends, and the entire South Dallas community.
