Sonya was born September 21, 1971, to the union of Geraldine Robinson and Winston Jones in Oakdale, Louisiana. Sonya accepted Christ in her life at a young age. She was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church Youth Choir and various youth organization in the church.
She attended schools in the Marshall Independent School District. She was a very active, an “A” student in school, and graduated in 1990 from Marshall High School with honors, while attending Marshall High School, Sonya was a member of the band and a cheerleader. Upon completing high school, she attended
Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches, TX, and (TCJC)Tarrant County Junior College in Hurst, TX.
In 1994, Sonya gave birth to her first child, Gene A. Williams III, where she embraced motherhood. Sonya married Terrance Everitt in 2002 and to this union, two beautiful children were born, Samantha and Thomas Everitt.
Sonya was truly a daddy's girl and took every opportunity to spend as much time with her dad as possible. While family was everything to her and she fully embraced motherhood, her most profound joy of family came when she became a grandma (Nana) to her beautiful grandson, Amias G. Williams.
Sonya was known and loved by many. For over 15 years, she worked for Jackson Walker Law Firm, in Dallas, TX. Her inner spirit was so bright, and she had a lasting positive impact on everyone she encountered. She embodied truly what a helping hand looked and felt like. She always believed in the best of everyone, and she truly loved unconditionally.
Sonya loved good food, music, binge-watching movies, traveling, being around family and friends, and simply enjoying life. She was repeatedly known and characterized as being charismatic, loving, caring, giving, relentless, genuine, sincere, persistent, encouraging of others, genuinely happy, friendly, and always lending a helping hand.
Sonya, you were and are an angel to so many people and a wind beneath our individual and collective wings. In Matthew 23:11, the word of God says: The greatest in the kingdom is the servant. From the life you lived and the tenacity with which you served; there is no doubt that you will be great in God's kingdom.
She is preceded in death by her father, Winston Jones, and grandparents, J C and Sammie Mae Jones.
Those who are left to cherish her memories are her husband, Terrance Everitt; three children, Gene (Tasia) Williams, Samantha and Thomas Everitt; one grandson, Amias Williams; her mother, Geraldine Robinson, Mother, Alice Jones (wife of Winston); mother-in-law, Wilma Everitt, father-in-law, George(Velma) Everitt; Siblings Chantelle (Roy) Johnson, Andria Robinson, Ulrica (Dale) Rawlings, Sonja Turner, Emmet (Loretta) D. Perry, Avionne Jones, Pamela (William) Jones, Erica Robinson; sister-in-law, Tameka (Ervin) Everitt-Williams, brother-in-law, George (April) Everitt Jr., and an inseparable bond with her sister-cousin, Zenobia (Zee) Alexander; an exceptional bond with three uncles, Joseph (Mary) Jones, Jack (Rozella) Jones, and Julius (Samantha ) Robinson; powerful connection with two aunts, Pamela Collier and Flora (Nanny) Alexander. Sonya’s extended family and lifelong friends, Nikkee Espree, Galina Tamplin, and Carita Crockett. She also leaves a host of other uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and coworkers.
