Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. — Psalm 116:15
Born on November 22, 1959, to the late Arthur and Edna Richard, Timothy was raised in Dallas, Texas, in a lively, competitive household full of love, energy, and laughter as one of six siblings. His bold personality and sharp sense of humor were evident from an early age. It was during his school days that he earned the nickname “Snatch,” given by classmates because of his straight, stylish afro — a standout look in the 70s when most embraced kinky hairstyles.
A proud graduate of David W. Carter High School, Class of 1978, Timothy left his mark both on and off the field. He played strong safety and cornerback for the Carter Cowboys and ran track during his high school years. After graduation, he furthered his education at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas.
In 1980, Timothy began his professional journey at Dixico, but his greatest accomplishment came on July 28, 1984, when he married the love of his life, Gwendolyn Harris. Their 40-year union stood as a testament to love, faith, and family.
In 1996, Timothy made the most important decision of his life — he gave his life to Christ. His faith was bold, unwavering, and unapologetic. Whether at work, with friends, or among strangers, Timothy never missed an opportunity to share the goodness of God. He first joined Solomon Temple Missionary Baptist Church, and later became a dedicated member of The Potter's House in 1998, where he remained faithful until his passing.
A hardworking man and lifelong learner, Timothy began working with DeSoto ISD Plant Services in 2000, all while pursuing his passion for mechanics. He earned his Certificate in Automotive and Diesel Mechanics from Cedar Valley Community College in 2004. His career later continued with Werner Trucking and YRC (Yellow Freight), where he worked until his retirement in 2021.
Known for his playful spirit, Timothy rarely posed for a serious photo. He loved old-school music and could always be counted on to crack jokes, tell stories, and fill family gatherings with joy.
Timothy was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Edna Richard, and his siblings: Rhonda Yvette Williams, Kenneth Derrick Richard, and Arthur Richard Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 40 years, Gwendolyn Richard; two devoted sisters, Trina Richard and Thomesha Richard; three sons, Eric, Christopher, and Timondrick; one daughter, Keundra; five granddaughters, Kezia, Tanner, Courtlynn, Koryn, and Kaile; and two grandsons, Eric Jr. and Xavion.
Timothy is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Wanda Mathis and Sondra Menefee; one brother-in-law, Tony Mathis; three aunts, Earlene Jones, Alice Jean Huggins, and Sharon Harper; along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and former coworkers who will forever remember his bold faith, infectious humor, and unwavering love for family.
Timothy Lamont Richard passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025. Though Timothy’s earthly journey has ended, his legacy of love, laughter, faith, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23
