Toni Manning Obituary

Toni Lynette Manning was born on July 18, 1948, in Homestead, FL to the late Thomasina Gatlin and William Sterling Rogers. She was the second oldest of 7 siblings. Her siblings, Calvin Jackson and Nicholas Rogers, preceded her. She was a proud parent of three children and a plethora of children adopted in Christ. She graduated from Mays High School in 1966, where she would meet and marry the love of her life, Airmen Isaac James Manning, on December 18, 1966.

Toni would soon move to Detroit, MI, where she would graduate from the Wayne County Community College with her associate’s degree in teaching. She raised their three children until her husband's untimely death on June 24, 1978.

She would then follow her brothers to Dallas, TX, where she would begin to raise her children and continue her life and legacy.

Toni loved every God-given position she was called to be. She loved being a daughter, a sister, a mother, a grandmother, an auntie, a friend and expressed it through her generosity with her time and resources. She loved anybody she came in contact with and never met a stranger. She loved to cook for her loved ones and dance. She used to always say, "that if she could dance like David she would"!

Most of all, Toni LOVED GOD! It would be her relationship with God that caused her to love intentionally like she did and if you felt her love, you knew it was heaven sent. She believed in Christian stewardship and lived a life of being a good steward. She was a member and Usher for Voice of Deliverance Baptist Church, pastored by good friend and retiring late Pastor Joseph Russell Sr. and Freddie Russell, who she would call "sister teacher". This relationship would become more than friends now became family.

Toni then became the honorary member and Mother of The Voice of Deliverance Bible Church, pastored by Stan B. Taylor and wife Monique Taylor, where her warmth, wisdom and stewardship will carry on in the spiritual family of VODBC. She loved her church!

She is survived by her siblings, Theodore Rogers, James Hunter, Charlanne Greenlee, Jerome Sanders and Darnell Hunter; her three children, Cassandra Mayberry (Robert Mayberry, son-in-love), Craig Manning (Tracy Wallace, daughter-in-love) and Christopher Manning; her grandchildren, Toni, Zachary, Ebonee, Christa, Craig Jr., Marquita, Mercedez, Jory, Christopher, Sabrina, Olivia, Sophia, Sheila, Camrin, Chase, Colton, Trey and Celdon; her dearest great-grandchildren, Tayler, Sy'Niyah, Jeremiah, Maijer, Journi, Allure, Jory Jr., Ka'Mara, Chanel, Cartier, Westvaun, Nyla, Cale and Remi.
