Tony Ozell Scruggs was born to the parentage of Lonnie Scruggs Tutson and T.J. Jones on October 16, 1961 at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas. He received his formal education from the Dallas School District, graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1980.
With many gifts at hand such as total home remodeling and construction, Tony found his love for driving big trucks. Through hard work, he purchased his own 18-wheeler and dump truck. With that, he began his own family business with his mother, called MST Trucking. After several years of success, Tony returned to the workforce and began his career with the City of Dallas. As he progressed through various positions, Tony found his niche as a Sanitation Supervisor II. With a 19 year career with the City of Dallas, Tony had planned to retire in 2021 and spend his time on the lake fishing. Tony was called home by the Lord before he could bring that dream to fruition.
Among his many accomplishments, Tony had served as a Free Mason since 2009. He turned his life over to Christ at a young age, and began serving in the youth choir and played various instruments along side his brothers at the direction of his late grandmother, Catherine Scruggs. As an adult, Tony joined Friendship West Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas.
With loving memories of his life to cherish, Tony leaves behind two daughters, Tabetha Scruggs-Martin, and Lisa Richards Martin; his mother, Lonnie Scruggs-Tutson; three brothers, Keenan Scruggs (Kaye), Arthur Scruggs, and Jeffery Tutson (Tammie); four half brothers, Alvin, Issac, Vincent, and Bebe Jones; two granddaughters, T’Aundrea Martin (Tabetha), and Angel McGee (Lisa); three nieces, Dr. Shakasha Scruggs-Williams (Derrick), Ashley Scruggs, and Jayla Tutson; two nephews, JeMichael Phillips and Keenan Scruggs, Jr.; special friends, Mila Sanders, Thomas Gray, and Tony Johnson, along with a host of other relatives and friends that loved him dearly.
Tony was preceded in death by his grandmother, Catherine Scruggs; father, T.J. Jones; and brother, Hollis Scruggs.
