Venita Wanda Curry Pettus was born April 11, 1951 to Erma Davis Curry and the late Marvin Curry.
She was baptized at Twentieth and Birch Street Church of Christ, Lubbock, Texas in 1972.
She received her education in the Dallas and Lubbock Independent School Districts. She graduated from L.G. Pinkston High School in 1969. Received her Cosmetology License from the State of Texas, Funeral Directors License from State Board of Morticians at the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service, an Associate Degree in Applied Art and Sciences from Eastfield College, and a Nursing License from E&K Vocational Nursing Program, Inc. in Dallas, Texas. She was a member of the United Sates Airforce (USAF), where she was training at Lakeland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, was honorably discharged August, 1975. After working for Dallas County Health and Human Services as a Licensed Vocational Nurse, she retired in 2018.
She entered into eternal rest on May 25, 2021 peacefully at her home. She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Curry, and grandparents.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her mother, Erma L. Mitchell; (2) brothers, Francisco B. Obera, III (Debra) and Christopher P. Obera, Sr. (Vivian); (4) nephews, Marlo, Christopher B., Christopher Jr., and Brayden; (3) nieces, Chraletta, Francis, and Christa, and a host of great nieces and nephews, many relatives, friends, and a very special K-9 companion, “Montero” who will miss her dearly.
