That desire led her to pursue a career in nursing. She graduated as an LVN in 1984 and continued her education, receiving her Registered Nurse designation in 1993. Virgie began her nursing career as a pediatric nurse at the city of Corsicana's health department. She subsequently became owner/operator of Optimum Home Health Care and later concluded her nursing career as a hospice nurse with Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas.
The Lord called Virgie home to be with Him and the love of her life, Archie, on July 16, 2021. Archie left her side just 10 months earlier, on September 23, 2020. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her two children, Dena and Bo; her sisters, Ida Mae Carroll (William) and Helen Smith, and her brothers, James Smith (Lola) and James Mosley (Waltraud). She will also be missed by her grandchildren, Shaun Green, Justice Sayles-Gray, and Brooklyn Sky Gray as well as a host of extended family, relatives, and friends.
