Walter Gray was born to the parentage of the late Willis and Martha Gray on September 7, 1947 in Longview, Texas. He was the youngest of six children, and was affectionately known to everyone as “Sam.”
Always a scholar, Sam graduated from Mary C. Womack High School in 1965, and furthered his education at Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas.
In 1967, Sam moved to Dallas, Texas and began a career in the telecommunications industry, before retiring after over 20 rewarding years from AT&T. Sam enjoyed his work and his expertise afforded him the opportunity to work on many projects throughout the country.
Sam loved sports, race cars, and spending time with his family and friends.
Sam finished his journey in this life on Friday, January 1, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Martha Gray; siblings, Colvin McCright, Sara Bell Gray, Grace Holmes, Florence Hall and loving wife, Katheryn Gray.
He leaves to cherish his memory: daughters, Felicia Gray, Patrice Gray, Stefanie Golden (Donald), and Marshela Gray; grandchildren, DeSean “Buddy”, Donald Jr., and Jordon; brother, Willis Gray, Sr., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
