Yolanda Anderson Obituary

The incredible journey of Yolanda Yvette Anderson began on December 6, 1964 in Dallas, Texas. She was born to loving parents, Andrew and JoAnn Moore who truly doted on her. Yolanda attended schools in Dallas ISD and later matriculated to Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. Yolanda was a communications major but she always had a love of all things beautiful. She later became a license and highly sought after cosmetologist. One stop on her incredible journey was joining in holy matrimony with Joseph Anderson on May 19, 1990. They were blessed to be parents of their only son, Andrew Taylor Anderson.

Yolanda was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She was baptized into the body of the Cherry Valley Church of Christ at a young age. She worshipped at the Cherry Valley Church of Christ throughout her youth and later joined with the Light of the World Church of Christ where she remained an active member until the end of her incredible journey. Yolanda was active in the LWCC Women’s and Children’s Ministries.

Yolanda had a beautiful spirit and was one of the kindest people you could be blessed to encounter. She would literally give you the shirt off her back and open her door to anyone in need. She was an avid animal lover and had a special passion for her dogs, Jackson, Max, and Rylie. She treated them like her children. While her dogs were also her children, the love of her life was her only son, Andrew. She was very proud of the man he is becoming. Yolanda displayed courage, strength, and faith that was unmatched as she traveled this incredible journey. She loved life and lived it to the fullest in spite of any health problems or obstacles she may have faced. She helped so many friends and family members with her love and wisdom. Yolanda always had an encouraging word for everyone. No matter how much pain or discomfort she was experiencing, she always showed up with a smile. Yolanda loved to travel and looked forward to taking trips with her family and friends. No illness or obstacle was going to keep her in one place. She believed in the power of prayer. One of her favorite sayings was, “Prayer Changes Things.” Yolanda ran the last leg of her incredible journey on March 16, 2021 when she took her final slumber to rest with the Lord.

She was preceded in death by husband, Joseph Anderson; her grandparents, Griff and Lillian Smith, Willie and Beulah Taylor, and her beloved father, Andrew Robert Moore. She is survived by her only son, Andrew Anderson; her best friend and confidant, her mother, JoAnn Moore; her protectors and caretakers, her brother, Rodney Moore; her sister, Keishla Coleman; nieces, Rhaney Moore, Kyndall Coleman, and Trinity Moore, as well as a host of aunts, “sister cousins”, relatives and friends.
