John Harris, Jr.

Mr. John F. Harris was born on July 22, 1955 in Dallas, Texas to the parents of John Freeman Harris, Sr. and Ethel Lee (Davis) Harris. John was raised in West Dallas and was educated in the Dallas Public School District. He was a graduate of L.G. Pinkston High School. After high school he attended Southwestern Christian College in Terrell, Texas and proceeded to work at Taylor Publishing Company. John was a dedicated employee for over 30 years. His coworkers knew him as a friend. John had a love for his family, who affectionately called him “Scooter”. He also had a love for his friends, music, barbequing, and sports, especially those Dallas Cowboys. His smile, laugh, sweet spirit and willingness to help will be greatly missed.

John departed this life on Friday, September 6, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents and older sister, Patricia Harris Brown.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a special friend, Charletha Blackmon of Dallas, Texas; siblings, Edmond Harris (Kim), Valencia Gail McCarther (Reginald), David Harris (Remonia), Linda Harris, and Kyle Harris (Greta) all of Dallas-Fort Worth area and  brother, Carey Harris (Lekisha) of Longview, Texas; brother-in-law, Darnell Brown of Houston, Texas; sixteen nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.
