Lawrence Vernon Randle, affectionately known as “Fat” was born on July 28, 1932 in Elysian Fields, Texas to the parentage of Louie and Frozine Randle, both preceded him in death. He, along with his twin brother LC, was the youngest of eight children. He received his formal education at Elysian Fields High School, where he played football and basketball, sports that he enjoyed until his passing. Lawrence accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at an early age at the Elysian Fields Baptist Church. After graduation from high school in 1951, “Fat” enlisted in the United States Army, and served his country in Korea, during the Korean Conflict. After his service time in the Army, he moved to Dallas and began the quest for employment. After different jobs, he found employment with the Marubeni America Corp, where he remained until retirement.
On February 8, 1965, “Fat” married the love of his life, Elnora Louise Davis. They remained lovingly married for 44 years until her death on December 13, 2009. Prior to her death, they had united with the Good Street Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor C.A.W. Clark, and completed the new member orientation course of instruction on July 16, 2006.
The Lord Jesus Christ deemed it fit to call Lawrence home in the early morning hours of July 25, 2019, three days shy of his 87th day of birth. All the glory be to God, for He knows when his children need to come home, their heavenly home. Lawrence leaves to cherish his memories: a loving sister, Vera B. Randle of Dallas, Texas; brother, LC Randle of Dallas, Texas; step daughter, Barbara Ann Roland of Dallas, Texas, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends that loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his son, Roy; brothers, Lee Arthur, Alfred, and Louie Randle; sisters, Mable L. Smith and Jannie M. Lewis, all of Dallas, Texas.
