Leon Thomas, Sr. Obituary

Leon Thomas, Sr. was born on October 3, 1939 in Birmingham, Alabama to Mildred Bender and Anzie Jones whom both preceded him in death. Also preceded by death is Joseph Jones, brother whom also served in Vietnam.

 

Leon Sr., attended I.M. Terrell in Fort Worth and Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School before enlisting into the United States Army under Air Artillery, 1st PVT, 10/15/56-12/03/65 spending the majority of his service in Germany. Leon Sr was employed by Chrysler (Michigan) General Dynamics and retired from Frank Kent Cadillac in Texas.

 

Leon Sr., loved horses and sports. He played tennis, basketball and golf while in the military. You could often find him enjoying the horse races with many friends he called family.

 

Leon Sr. journeyed to Selfridge Air Force Base in Mount Clemens, Michigan where he met and married Marjorie (Gantt) Thomas and out of their union, Lafonita, Leon Jr. and Diane.

 

Leon Sr. is survived by three children, Lafonita (Regan) Elzy, Leon Jr. and Diane, all of the Dallas-Arlington Area; six grandchildren, Deon, Simon and Samona Combs, Laquan, Kesheena, and Cortez Thomas; six great grandchildren, Parker, Cortez Jr., Brandon, Arian, Mia and Daviana, a host of other relatives and friends that loved him dearly.
