Lovie Shelton was born August 4, 1930 in Harleton, Texas to the parentage of Jack and Rosezna Brightman. She attended Macedonia High School. Lovie accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. She was united with the Bear Springs Church of Christ in Marshall, Texas. After moving to Dallas, Texas she attended Greater Bethlehem Baptist Church. In later years, she united with Mountain View Church of Christ. She married Frank James Shelton and became the mother of five children: Peggy, Ricky, Pamela, Terry, and Frank Jr. Lovie was employed at Varo Semi-Conductors Inc. in Garland, Texas. Later she worked as a Security Guard to supplement their income.
She was very outgoing and loved to travel. She was fancy, a fashionable dresser (everything matching), and loved to fellowship with her family and friends. She was a person that loved to give, always blessing those in need, to the point she was called by everyone this precious title, “Momma Lovie”. She was an outstanding hostess involved and dedicated to her Elk’s Lodge. She was very dependable and always went the extra mile to see to it that all went well. Lovie was loved by many. She will be missed, but not forgotten.
Lovie was preceded in death by her husband, Frank James Shelton and two children, Ricky and Frank Jr.
Left to cherish her memories are: children, Peggy Stroop (James), Pamela McCullough (Charles), and Terry C. Shelton (Penoral); two sisters, Clemmie R. Johnson and Deanie M. Whaley; five brothers, Ozzie Brightman (Linda), Charles Brightman (Ann), Willie Brightman (Eva), Paul Brightman (Josephine), and Henry C. Brightman; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and church members that loved her dearly.
