Alfonzo Hines was born on September 26, 1939 to the parentage of Reverend Lathaniel and Mrs. Jimmie Lee Hines. He was the first born of five children: Willie Herman, Marzella, Sammy and Ollie Hines. Alfonzo began grade school in Plainview, Texas and completed school in Dallas, Texas. In 1961 he enlisted to serve in The Army of the United States. He served in Germany and the beginning stage of The Vietnam War. Upon returning home from the Army he became a Butcher at Neuhoff Packing Company. He then wanted to travel within the United States and became an 18-Wheeler Truck Driver for Hertz. He worked in many capacities until retiring from Dallas Independent School District of Dallas County. Alfonzo was an avid golf player at Cedar Crest, Tenison Park Golf Course and Keeton Golf Course for numerous years.
In 2002, Alfonzo was baptized and became a member of Fourth Avenue Church of Christ.
On May 22, 1993 he married Deloris Ann Bradshaw whereby they shared a blended family of four children: D.Ann Jordan, Rollin Hines, Tiffany Hines, and Craig Bradshaw; three God-children, Trivio, Terry, and Norris; thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren, all of which he leaves to mourn. He also leaves behind his brother, Sammy Hines (JoAnn Hines); sister, Marzella Woulard (Ras Woulard); brother-in-law, Herbert Bradshaw; sisters-in-law, Betty Bradshaw and Barbara Culbreth; two aunts, Lillie Conley and Olanthia Allen and a host of nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, cousins and friends who will miss him very much.
