Alice Dempsey was born November 2, 1951, in Wichita, Kansas. She accepted Christ at an early age at 11th St. Church of Christ in Wichita, Kansas. Alice attended Little Elementary, Brooks Junior High, and graduated from Heights High school in 1969. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degree from Dallas Baptist University. Alice married Robert James Dempsey in 1969 and to this union two children were born, Robert James Dempsey, Jr., and LeShawn Alicia Dempsey. Alice and Robert divorced in 1977 and she relocated to Dallas. Alice made Concord Missionary Baptist Church her church home and was an active member for over 40 years, until death. She formerly was a member of the Hospitality ministry. Also, Alice faithfully attended Bible Study Fellowship classes for over 10 years.
Alice worked at Southwestern Bell/ATT and retired after 42 years of service. Alice was stylish and elegant and had a penchant for shoes, clothes, and shopping for great deals for herself and anyone else. She had a great sense of humor, was fun and loved to be around people. Alice was intelligent, thoughtful, and generously helped others.
Alice was a warrior! Though diagnosed with Lupus in 1984, and later scleroderma and pulmonary hypertension, and recently cancer, she never complained. God extended His grace and mercy upon her, and her doctors often described her as a “miracle patient”. She pressed on, kept her faith in God and trusted Him to order her steps. Alice was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. Go Cowboys!!
Alice transitioned to her heavenly home on February 28, 2024. She was preceded in death by her father, Alfred Hoggett; mother, Lula Mae Tennyson & stepfather, Braggs Tennyson; sisters, Dorothy Colbert, & Diana Marie Tennyson.
