Billy Garrett

Billy Dean Garrett, 80, transitioned from earth on December 24, 2021, surrounded by the love of family and friends in Dallas, Texas. Billy was born October 17, 1941, in Fairfield, Texas to Richard (R.C.) Garrett and Zelma Lee Cooper.

He attended Dogan High School and graduated top of his class. Soon after graduating high school, he attended Bishop College where he was a star basketball player and joined Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity.

He met and married Helen McGregor (Garrett). To this union they welcomed their only daughter Kyna. The Garrett’s moved to California in the late 1960’s where Billy was able to obtain a successful machinist career.

During his retirement, he enjoyed spending time on the golf course, watching the Dallas Cowboys and westerns, and spending time with family and friends. He was a faithful member of Concord Church in Dallas, Texas.

Billy is preceded in death by both parents, Richard (RC) Garrett and Zelma Lee Cooper. He left to cherish the memories with his daughter, Kyna Garrett; former wife, Helen Garrett; grandchildren, Brittney Releford, Ariel (Brian) Richard, and Quentin Welch; great grandchildren, O’brian, Sydnee, Jaylen, Ja’niya, Ivy, and Sunshine; two brothers, Frank J. Banks (Jewel) and William Cooper (Linda), and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and only living Uncle Henderson (HD) Garrett.
