Mr. Hubert Earl Dennis was born December 5, 1935 in Corsicana, Texas. In 1936 the family moved to Dawson, Texas, where he attended school. After graduating high school, he furthered his education at Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas.
Hubert relocated to Dallas, Texas and was employed by the United States Postal Service.
He met and married Ethel M. Burns on January 9, 1958. No children were born to this union.
Hubert entered the United States Army in June 1958. He served four years and was in the Reserve for two years. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he returned to the United States Postal Service and worked until his retirement.
He was the owner of Community Child Care, which served the community for thirty plus years.
Within the church, he served faithfully as: Deacon, President of the Ushers Ministry, Sunday School teacher, Baptist Training Union Director, and instructor for the National Baptist Congress. He was a very fluent speaker and had a passion for teaching the Word of God. He was a faithful and loyal member at Greater Shiloh Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas until his health failed.
Hubert Dennis departed this earthly life on May 12, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Clara Fortson; and his sister, Helen Griffin.
He leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Ethel Dennis; niece, Tonya (Bobby) Jeffrey; nephews, Clarence (Eyvonne) Griffin Jr. and Darrence Griffin; great nephews, Angel Luis (Kenya) Garcia, Kevin Giles, and Roderick Walker; sisters-in-law, Iree (Randolph) Stratford and Glenda Walker; brothers-in-law, Earl Burns and Johnny Burns; special Godchildren, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
