June Steele

June Elizabeth Steele aka (June Baby) made her transition from Earth to Heaven at the age of 89 on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 7:24 AM at the Methodist Charlton Hospital. June was born on June 30, 1930 to Bertha Washington and Henry Hammond in Topeka, Kansas. She was educated through the Topeka 501 School District and later worked at the Shawnee Juvenile Attention Center and the Kansas Neurology Institute Center. Later in her life, she became a homemaker. Still continued to be very active in her community and church. She will be remembered by all the love she shared to whom she came in contact with.

June married her childhood friend, Milo Mitchell and to this union begins the birth of her daughters, Brenda, Kahdrah, JoNell, and Christy. Later she married Reverend Arthur Steele, Jr. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Arthur E. Steele, Jr; her parents, Bertha Washington and Henry Hammond; and her grandparents, Rebecca Washington and Sandy Washington. June leaves behind four daughters, Brenda Smith, Kahdrah Perkins, JoNell Gordon (Gary) and Christy Hartfield (Gustus); eight grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, a host of cousins, extended family and friends.
