Mrs. Janet Elizabeth Dukes was born in East St. Louis, Illinois to Luella Lewis and Charlie Davis, Sr. on December 18, 1954.
Janet began her relationship with the Lord at an early age. She had a beautiful gift of song that would allow her to travel across the world. She sung solo, in choirs, and in her own group, “Faith Ministries”. She was blessed to share the stage with many great gospel artists. Janet’s anointed voice and ministry touched the lives of many people around the world. Her faith in God will forever be her legacy.
Janet departed this earthly life on October 9, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luella Lewis and Charlie Davis, Sr.; stepdad, Henry Lewis, Sr.; husband, Michael Dukes; youngest daughter, Michele Davis-Garrett; two brothers and one sister.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughters, Tomeyko Salone (Byron) and Carmell Jinks (Wesley); grandchildren, Traiveon Jackson, Tilar Jackson, Wesley Jackson, Kala Jinks, Cheralyn Salone, Brandon Salone, Erron Elliott, Amaryah Elliott, Joshua Elliot, Michael Perkins, and Christopher Garrett; sisters, Algene Davis, Carolyn Lewis, and Angela Lewis; brothers, Henry Lewis (Madeline), Vernal Davis, and Martez Lewis, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends that loved her dearly.
