Rosetta Stanley Obituary

Rosetta Stanley made her transition from earth to glory on Monday the 13th of September 2021. She was born on May 15, 1925, in Terrell, Texas Kaufman County to her parents Arthur A. Parker and Luella Phillips.  She was the youngest of eight siblings.

Rosetta was raised in Terrell, Texas and Rockwall, Texas where she received her childhood education in the Rockwall Grammar School.  She accepted Christ at an early age; the family were members of the New Caldonia Baptist Church of Rockwall, Texas.

Rosetta and her sisters sang as a gospel group for their father.  She was seven years old when the Parker girls began singing as a group.  After growing up they no longer were the Parker Girls, they were the infamous Parker Sisters. They traveled to small rural churches of East Texas singing.

After spending her younger days in Rockwall Texas, at 20 years of age, she married Isaac Blassingill in November 1945.  To this union was born a daughter, Iva Jean.

In July of 1951, she married Herbert Stanley.  To this union two children were born, Roy and Eleasa.  The Stanley’s built a house in Little Egypt, a Black historical area of Dallas, Texas. The family lived in West Dallas and later in Joppa until moving to Oak Cliff where she made a home for her family. She cared for her disabled husband patiently and lovingly.  Herbert Stanley passed on October 25, 1975.

She was employed in the private home of Mr. & Mrs. H. Wulf and later Campbell Manufacturing Company. She worked and retired from the Dallas Independent School District. Her compassion and generosity of caring for the sick and shut in extended to her neighbors.

May 19, 1996, she was baptized into Christ and faithfully attended the Marsalis Avenue Church of Christ. Failing health prevented her from worship services in her later years. To know her was to love her. She was known for singing and wearing her wide brim hats.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her son Roy Stanley (Gail), daughter Eleasa Johnson and ten grandchildren, Jon Norris, Kermit Norris, Bernitta Terry, Nadia Norris, Pelida Norris, Roy Stanley II, Breland Stanley, Vincent Green, Elyssa Johnson, Jada Johnson. 15 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She touched many lives on her journey while on earth; her loving spirit will always be remembered as Rosetta, Madea, Mama and Aunt Rose.  The Rose is in God’s Garden where he has the best.  When her name was called, she answered with a smile.
