Wilbert Watts, Jr. Obituary

Wilbert Daniel Watts Jr. was born on December 9, 1944 in Newport Arkansas to Wilbert Daniel Watts and Jane Ella Harper.  He was the eldest of two siblings.  His younger sister, Janice Marie Watts being his best friend was probably the first to meet him when he entered Heaven.  He was a truly devoted father and husband. Father of two daughters, Dannielle Joi Watts Bryant, Janice Irene Watts, deceased son Thomas King and father-uncle to Edward Arnold and Dushan Arnold. He was a devoted husband to Roberta Jean Watts for 46 years.

As a young boy, many years were spent living with his dad’s parents in Arkansas after a car accident that claimed his mother and left his dad in a VA hospital for many years. Later, Wilbert and Janice moved to Los Angeles to live with their Father.  Wilbert spent many days with his maternal grandparents, in San Bernardino, Calif. and His uncle in Santa Monica, California and other relatives.

He graduated from Fremont High, Los Angeles 1963 and received  his Bachelor  of Science in Police Science from Cal State, Los Angeles before enlisting in the United States Navy.  He met Roberta Jean Watts and they were married on May 24, 1975.

Wilbert served on the Board of Elders of World Evangelism under Doctor Morris Cerullo for over twenty years. He was an ordained Elder of the Church of God in Christ where he served with the New Gethsemane Church of God in Christ, Pomona for many years.  He was a Los Angeles County Employee for 35 years as a Probation Officer. During that time he organized Bible Studies for the young  men in the County camps and led many to the Lord. A great accomplishment he certainly enjoyed was organizing and operating a feeding and food donation program with the New Gethsemane Church of God in Christ of Pomona California.

If you needed something done, you could always count on Wilbert to help.  Wilbert had many friends and relatives who loved him.  Even though He only had one sister, He had many sisters-in-law, cousins, aunts and uncles when he married into Roberta’s family.

Early on October 14, 2021, Wilbert departed this earth and moved to his Heavenly home. He is survived by his wife, Roberta; daughters, Dannielle Joi Watts Bryant and her husband, Christopher D. Bryant, and Janice Irene Watts; nephew-sons, Edward Arnold, and Dushan Arnold; niece, Lesleigh Nicole Hall; grandson, Daniel Vincent Bryant; granddaughter, Gabrielle Christine Joi Bryant; all his favorite sisters-in-law, Irene Jenkins, Anita Watts, Edith Mathews, Annette Menefee, and Edna Jean Watts. He also leaves behind his brothers-in-law,  Bishop Raymond Watts, Robert Watts, and Curtis Menefee; daughter-in-law, Monica McDowell, along with a host of step grandsons, many nieces and nephews great nieces and nephews and so many wonderful long time friends.
